Part of the mahogany family, Spanish cedar consists of seven Cedrela species that are A) not Spanish, and B) not cedar. Native to Central and South America, Spanish Cedar’s range runs from Mexico to Argentina and the West Indies, this tropical hardwood is relatively soft with an even, smooth grain. The heartwood is relatively uniform with a pinkish to reddish brown. A medium texture, when sanded finely and polished, the luster can have a three-dimensional effect, looking to stand out when laminated to darker or lighter woods.
