Walnut - Sustainable Domestic Hardwood

Walnut | Janka Hardness: 1010lbf

Largely known for its use in cabinet making and gunstocks, Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) is a hard strong wood with a native range of the north eastern U.S. Coming in an array of colors, the heartwood usually ranges from a light pale brown to chocolate with darker streaks running with the grain. The grain is primarily straight but can have swirls, with a medium texture (not too smooth nor coarse) that finishes with a nice shine. When sealed, the gray quality of the wood gives way to a deeper brown—a great compliment to maple, yellowheart and bamboo.
